Rahman, Gulzar bag nominations at Grammy

AR Rahman has done it again for India as his `Jai Ho` has bagged Grammy nominations.

Mumbai: This victory chant has no end in sight. AR Rahman has done it again for India as his illustrious song Jai Ho has bagged another international acclaim in a nomination for the highest musical honour in world- the Grammy award.

The multi-talented composer has bagged two Grammy nominations for the Oscar winning ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The versatile composer has been nominated in the category of ‘Best Song Written For Motion Picture’ along with Gulzar and Tanvi Shah.

He has got nomination along with the legendary Bruce Springsteen for his number The Wrestler for the same movie, a song from Hannah Montana: The Movie called The Climb and a number from the hit vampire flick Twilight.

He also won a nod for ‘Best Compilation Soundtrack’ for Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The composer’s ‘Jai Ho’ anthem was the flavour of the year 2009. In this list, he shares space with Quentin Tarantino`s Inglourious Basterds.

Rahman has already bagged two Oscars for ‘Best Song’ and ‘Best Original Score’ as well as ‘Best Music Director’ award at the prestigious BAFTA.
Incidentally, AR Rahman is currently in Los Angeles where the prodigiously talented composer is working on his latest cross-cultural movie ‘Street Dancing’ along with the Golden Globe winner musician David A Stewart.

In terms of the number of nominations, pop sensation Beyoncé leads with 10 nominations, followed by Taylor Swift and Black Eyed Peas. The Grammy Awards will be held on January 31 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
