HM drives CNG ambassador into Bangladesh

New Delhi, Apr 18: Hindustan Motors has started exporting the CNG version of its old workhorse 'ambassador' to Bangladesh, after the neighbouring nation decided to import such cars for use as taxis to contain rising pollution in its capital Dhaka.

The C K Birla flagship has already sold 100 units of the car, which it has targeted to increase to over 500 units during this fiscal, HM General Manager (Corporate Communications) Soni Srivastav said.

The company is exporting the 1800cc 'isuzu' engine fitted variant of the 'ambassador' as a completely-built-unit.

HM also plans to export the CNG variant of its rural transport vehicle (RTV) to bangladesh this year, Srivastav said, adding a new dealer has been appointed in Dhaka to take care of sales and service of the CNG vehicles.
