One held for running fake currency racket

A former security guard of a scheduled bank has been arrested here for allegedly possessing counterfeit currency notes and fake notes with a total face value of Rs 1.20 lakh seized from him, police said.

Rajarajan (45) of Sivagiri in the district was arrested at the central bus stand last evening on a tip off by CB-CID police from Coimbatore who recovered counterfeit notes in the denomination of 500 from his possession.
Police said Rajarajan, who was working as security guard in a scheduled bank in Sivagiri in the district, had resigned from the job two months ago and along with another person was operating the counterfeit currency racket.
