WB: Protesting madrasa teachers removed by police

The police removed a group of madrasa teachers who threatened to go on indefinite fast, before the central gate of the state secretariat.

Kolkata: The police on Thursday removed a group
of madrasa teachers and non-teaching staff who demonstrated
and threatened to go on indefinite fast, before the central
gate of the state secretariat, Writers` Building.

The demonstrators were demanding immediate appointment
of teachers and non-teaching staff in MSKs and SSKs under the
Minority Affairs department.

Appointments were not being given to the teachers and
non-teaching staff in 139 MSKs and SSKs, including 55
madrasas, in the state, they alleged.

They also demanded the benefits of MSKs and SSKs to
all madrasas.

Later, representatives of the demonstrators were
allowed to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister`s Office
(CMO), as the CM was not present.
