Mumbai: If you want Akshay Kumar for free, then your timing could not be better. The actor is on a road to redemption and is making amends for charging stupendous fees.
With his flicks sinking without a splash at the Box Office, the dishy hunk has decided to give his producers a breather by not charging a single penny for his next two projects. As of now, the actor will do Priyadarshan’s ‘Khatta Meetha’ and Farah Khan’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’ for free. If sources are to believed, then the actors two awaited films next year ‘Khatta Meetha’ and ‘Tees Maar Khan’ will be wrapped up in a combined budget of Rs 35 crore. And it’s all happening because Akki has decided to let go off his fat pay cheque that often costs more than the entire making of the movie. Confirming the news a source said, “The cost of making ‘Khatta Meetha’ and ‘Tees Maar Khan’ will not include the actor’s fee. It all happened when Akshay realised that his films ‘Chandni Chowk to China’, ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ and ‘Tasveer` lost money because of his individual fee as an actor, he decided to make a market correction.” Talking about no charging a penny, Akshay said, “My fee for both films will be zero. If both films are hits, then my production house will stand to benefit by getting a part of the profits. If the film is average, the profit margin will automatically be reduced. However, it’s important to note here that even if the film flops, no one will lose money because the budget has been controlled. By not charging my personal remuneration as an actor, I’m making sure that these films will at least romp home with no losses.” Well looks like Akshay is paying for his past fees!
