Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday warned that the 'Mahagathbandhan', which emerged victorious in the 2015 Bihar assembly elections, will overthrow the fascist regime of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Today's results have proved that people of Bihar have clearly rejected Narendra Modi and his party BJP by voting their favourite leader Ntish Kumar and our 'Magathbandhan' to power,” Lalu said in a press conference here.
Hailing Ntish as his 'brother', the RJD chief said, ''Nitish Kumar will continue as the Chief Minister of Bihar. In Nitish Kumarji's leadership Bihar will move on a path of development.”
Nitish will take Bihar to new heights of development, he added.
The RJD chief also thanked the people for voting in favour of the 'Mahagathbandhan' and said the 'great' victory belonged especially to the poor, oppressed and the backwards of Bihar.
We thank people of Bihar for this great victory and results prove that they have rejected BJP. We both express our gratitude to people of Bihar for giving us such a great victory: Lalu Yadav said.
"I bow down to the poor, oppressed and the backward communities in Bihar and thank them from the bottom of my heart for this unprecedented victory. They have given a new turn to the politics of this nation," Lalu repeated.
Taking on the BJP government at the Centre, the RJD chief said, “As promised, we will overthrow the fascist regime of Narendra Modi at the Centre.”
The people of Bihar have whitewashed BJP and its downfall has begun, Lalu Prasad said.
Earlier, Congress president Rahul Gandhi branded the grand alliance's victory as a 'triumph of unity over divisiveness, humility over arrogance and love over hate'.
"Congratulations to the people of Bihar, to Nitishji, to Laluji, to the Congress leaders and karyakartas and the Mahagathbandhan on this victory," the Office of Rahul Gandhi tweeted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also called up Nitish to congratulate him and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah has also accepted the mandate of the people of Bihar.
