The ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 is round the corner. But India's planning for the tournament is all over the place. They have already seen disappointment in ICC tournaments in last couple of years. India have not won an ICC tournament since 2013. Now, they are even losing back-to-back bilateral series in white-ball cricket. Lack of form and consistency
The T20I series loss to West Indies as well as average show in the ODIs is reflection of the fact that India have not hit peak form or shown any signs of consistency in white-ball with the two big tournaments lined up in next three months. Poor planning
One common core group of plyers has not been retained from one series to another. Non-stop cricket has only meant more rests for players while others have got chance. In the last one year at least, BCCI should have tried to field the same 15 or 18 players in ODIs, so that they knew where the team stands. Injuries have not helped this cause. Hell bent on experimenting

Middle order crisis
With KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer missing out for last 6 months in middle order, India have a huge headache. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson have not performed. Hardik Pandya's form
One still does not know whether Hardik is ready to bowl 10-over quota in all matches of the World Cup. Every other team top team has a solid all-rounder at number 5 or 6. Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh are two such options for Australia, who can bowl and bat equally well.
