New Delhi: One aspect of any sporting encounter which has received universal approval is supporting the so-called minnows. On Wednesday, Bangladesh take on Pakistan in their 2016 Asia Cup a round-robin match.

But unexpectedly, the minnows seemed to the taken the game to their more illustrious opponents. Batting first, Pakistan have managed to score a below par 129/7 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. This is Pakistan's lowest total against Bangladesh. Previous lowest total was 135.

It's only half way into the match, but here are couple of stats which will cheer up any Bangladeshi fan.

1. Pakistan scored 34 runs in the first 10 overs, which is lowest for them in all T20Is. Previous lowest was 35 against West Indies at this same venue in WT20 2014.

2. Of the 10 full-member teams, Pakistan's average opening stand of 14.16 in T20Is in 2016 is lowest. Today, Khurram Manzoor and Sharjeel Khan could survived only seven deliveries, for one run.

Pakistan's highest stand has been only 33.

For the record, Bangladesh are bidding to win back-to-back wins against Pakistan, and also make Asia Cup final.

In their last meeting in April 2015, Bangladesh had won by 7 wickets chasing 142 runs at this venue.
