New Delhi: New Delhi: Team India's middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane is unlikely to play in the fifth and final ODI of the series against Australia after the in-form batsman injured his hand while fielding during the 4th ODI in Canberra.
Rahane hurt his right hand while fielding and required four stitches.
The right-hander was replaced by Manish Pandey on the field as a substitute for rest of the Australian innings.
Now speculations are also high that the Mumbaikar will be rested during the fifth game, which is scheduled to be played in Sydney on January 23.
However, the 27-year-old later came to bat in the match but didn't manage to contribute much as he got out after scoring mere two runs off three balls.
But according to a report in Hindustan Times, normally stitches are removed after a week, which can also put Rahane's participation in the upcoming three-match T20 International series in doubt.
There is no official confirmation yet by BCCI on Rahane.
