Samsung Electronics maintained its stronghold on the global soundbar market for the 12th straight year in 2025, data showed on Sunday, on the back of its immersive audio technology. 

US President Donald Trump has said his administration will soon unveil tariffs of around 100 percent on semiconductor imports, raising concerns for Korean companies.

It marked the worst quarterly profit in 14 years since the first quarter of 2009 when the South Korean tech giant reported 590 billion won in operating profit, reports Yonhap news agency.

The plan was announced at its annual Samsung Foundry Forum (SFF) in San Jose, California, where hundreds of Samsung foundry business customers and partners attended to share the latest technology trends in the industry.

Samsung is projected to report an operating profit of 100.4 billion won ($76.5 million) for the April-June period.

In April, there were reports that Samsung was considering switching from Google to Bing as its default search engine on Galaxy phones.

The company sees revenue having fallen 19 percent to 63 trillion won during the same period.
