Craig buys $1.9m penthouse apartment

New York: `James Bond` star Daniel Craig has bought a USD 1.9 million penthouse apartment in New York that 007 would feel right at home in. The British actor held his nerve to pip several other buyers to the post when bidding on the apartment located in the posh New York locality of Tribeca.

The listed duplex loft conversion has 20-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and three terraces, according to the Wall Street Journal. "It`s a very Bond apartment," said estate agent Fredrik Eklund. The 42-year-old actor bought the apartment with American film producer girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell after a furious bidding war erupted between several potential buyers. The actor sealed the deal with an all-cash offer. Craig will soon be neighbours with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, James Gandolfini and Mariah Carey, who have all made the exclusive neighbourhood of Tribeca home. In 2008 Craig bought a USD 7 million apartment near Regent`s Park in London, just over the road from 007`s fictional head quarters. PTI
