Las Vegas: Indian golfers Arjun Atwal and Jeev Milkha Singh had a sluggish start in the USPGA Shriners Hospital for Children Open and risk missing the cut after turning in disappointing first round cards in the USD 4.3 million golf tournament here.
First Indian to win on the US PGA Tour, Atwal traded two birdies against a bogey to card one-under 70 to lie tied 83rd.
While senior pro Jeev Milkha Singh was further down the leaderboard at 129 with a horrendous first round card of five-over 76 at the TPC Summerlin here.
Orlando-based golfer Atwal parred his first nine holes to make the turn at level-par and picked up two birdies at the 14th and 16th hole on his back nine but a 17th hole bogey pulled him back in the end.Jeev also struggled in the first round as he failed to find a single birdie. The Chandigarh-golfer dropped as many as five bogeys at the first, second, fifth, 10th and 12th holes to end the day on a disappointing note.
