Silvestre on verge of Inter switch

Italy: Palermo are ready to sell Matias Silvestre to Inter in a deal that could be worth €10 million.

The Sicilian outfit`s president Maurizio Zamparini has claimed that negotiations with the Nerazzurri are in the final stages and a deal could be struck soon. Silvestre, 27, already announced his intention to leave Palermo after just one season with the Rosanero and has been linked with both Inter and AC Milan. Andrea Stramaccioni`s outfit had originally offered €7 million for the defender, who also holds an Italian passport, but has now upped their bid in order to ward off competition from their city rivals. "I met with Inter president Massimo Moratti. We spoke about Silvestre and we are on the same page," Zamparini said. "There is a 99 per cent chance that a deal will be done. It will be a transfer worth around €8m to €10m." Silvestre moved to Italy from Boca Juniors in 2008 and spent three seasons at Catania before making the switch to Palermo last summer.
