The Uttar Pradesh government headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday issued an order asking all officers to gift books instead of bouquets to guests in functions.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday issued an order asking all officers to gift books instead of bouquets to guests in functions.

The order was issued by Principal Secretary to Uttar Pradesh CM Awanish Kumar Awasthi.

"It has been seen that big flower bouquets are presented to guests in government functions in which flowers are used in large numbers," an official order from Principal Secretary (Information) Avneesh Awasthi said.

He said that this decision has been taken to cut down on unnecessary expenses and added that a copy of the GO has been sent to all departments and officials for compliance.

Earlier, CM Adityanath had directed party workers not to welcome his council of ministers with bouquet, garland and flowers etc during their visit to their area.
