New Delhi: Maverick filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much-awaited magnum opus Padmavati created quite a stir after the first look poster of Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini was unveiled. But little did we know that soon some Rajput outfits would take to the violent side and threaten to stall the film release.
According to Times of India.com, a few members from a Rajput outfit, Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha burnt Bhansali's effigy in Meerut threatening to not allow Padmavati release there. They claim that the film has distorted some historical facts and they would not let the filmmaker go ahead with it reportedly.
The report quotes Kuldeep Tomar, district president of Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha as saying, “It is a well-known fact that Rani Padmavati had died in mass self-immolation and was a symbol of bravery for women. But from what we have got to know, some historical facts have been distorted in the movie. This will not be tolerated.”
Earlier, Karni Sena had vandalised the Jaipur sets of Bhansali's film and even abused the director. Padmavati is scheduled to hit the screens on December 1, 2017, and stars Deepika in the titular role. Besides, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh will be seen in pivotal parts.
