Divyanka back on the small screen

Divyanka returns to the small screen after a gap of a year.

New Delhi: While TV stars are busy outdoing each other grabbing one show after another, actress Divyanka Tripathy, who returns to the small screen after a gap of a year, feels that the break has done her good. The actress, who played `Vidya` in popular daily soap `Banoo Main Teri Dulhann`, hopes that she has manages to erase the memory of her character from the public memory.
She now stars in an entertainment channel’s latest comedy show `Mrs & Mr Sharma Allahabad Wale` and does not want the baggage of another character interfering with her latest role.
"I did not talk to the media or appear in any reality show because I wanted a fresh start and I think I have been successful in implementing my strategy," Tripathy said. The actress said her character in the new show is completely different than what she is in real life. "I now understand comedy is a very serious business. When we are rehearsing we are really serious about our characters. It feels like a stage performance," she said. Enjoying her first stint on a comedy show she said, "Earlier I used to get headache after leaving the sets, but with this show I arrive smiling and leave the sets smiling. I have started cracking jokes in real life." Coming from a small city like Bhopal herself, Tripathy says she could relate to the story as all the characters are from Allahabad. "Our cultures are similar. We have tried to adapt the same style of speech and are constantly trying to work on our pronunciation and style to reach excellence," she said. PTI
