I almost got groped, says Chitrangada

Mumbai: Interacting with fans in a live event can be tricky. In close proximity of the stars, certain fans tend to go overboard and behave irrationally. Recently, at a promotional event of ‘Desi Boyz’ the cast and crew of the film faced a similar situation. At a shopping mall in Pune, actors Chitrangada Singh, John Abraham and Akshay Kumar were scheduled to perform in front of a live audience but the event had to be called off mid way as the crowd could not be controlled. The actress also suffered scratches in the process. Speaking to a daily, an eyewitness said, "The mall had three floors packed with people because the stars were to perform. However despite many security guards, things went awry and the crowd was trying to reach out to the actors. The crowd was way beyond the capacity of the mall and it was very difficult to control over 4,000 people at one go." When the organizers realized that the crowd could not be controlled, they called off the event. Trouble started when the stars proceeded to the exit of the venue. Actress Chitrangada Singh narrated the incident and said, "I have never seen so many people together in my life. Plus they were so aggressive that they started pushing the railings and even got into a scuffle with the security guards. I realised then how serious the situation was. There was a point when I fell and almost got groped, but thankfully Akshay was right behind me and he bailed me out." The actress also hurt her ankle in the process and got a few scratches. Later in the evening, when the actors reached a Pune nightspot, actor John Abraham got into a scuffle with an eve teaser. John noticed a girl being eve-teased and immediately intervened. The man who initially tried to get into a fight with the actor, escaped before the authorities could take any action.
