New Delhi: Actor Chetan Pandit has donned the garb of a politician once again for director Prakash Jha`s film `Raajneeti`, which he says is all about the struggle for power.
The NSD graduate, who previously portrayed the character of a home minister in Jha`s last film `Apaharan`, will be seen as the leader of a ruling party and father to Ranbir Kapoor in the multistarrer, which releases this Friday.
The 36-year-old actor considers Jha his favourite director because the filmmaker use the talent of each actor in his movies. "Prakashji knows how to use his actors. You will see that the potential of all the actors is completely utilised in Raajneeti. A character never goes waste in his movies," Pandit told reporters. "He is inclined towards intelligent actors who can understand their characters with ease," he added. Written, directed and produced by Jha, `Raajneeti` will see a host of Bollywood A-listers coming together. Pandit says the mix of veteran actors with the latest talent will surprise the audience. "Raajneeti has a new combination of actors. Prakashji has done an experiment by casting veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar and new breed actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Katrina Kaif together," said Chetan. Pandit`s association with Jha started with `Gangajal`, in which he played the role of Inspector Bholanath Pandey and then he went on to portray the character of home minister Dinker Pandey in `Apaharan`. "I value Prakash ji`s association. He combines entertainment with social commitment which has an impact on the masses. People get motivated by seeing his movies since he has a realistic approach towards cinema." Last seen in Madhur Bhandarkar`s `Jail`, Pandit enjoyed playing the onscreen father to Ranbir. "Working with Ranbir and Katrina was amazing. Ranbir is an amazing person and is a dedicated actor. We lived the situation while doing the scenes." Currently, his on air serial is Ekta Kapoor`s `Tujh Sang Preet Lagayi Sajna` on Star Plus and his upcoming projects include Rajpal Yadav`s first production `Ata Pata Laapata`. PTI
