‘Dirty Picture’ earns postive response from fans

Opening day of Bollywood movie ‘The Dirty Picture’ earned a positive response from audiences.

Mumbai/Kolkata/Chennai: Opening day of Bollywood movie ‘The Dirty Picture’ earned a positive response from audiences in different cities across India on Friday.
The much awaited film opened to huge crowds everywhere on its opening day and lived up to the pre-release excitement.
In Kolkata, people rated Vidya Balan’s acting as excellent. “It was great. Vidya Balan is one of my favourite actresses. Her acting has been really awesome. Among the other stars, Naseeruddin Shah was the main actor but the other characters also played well. I really enjoyed the movie,” said Chandan Mitra, a movie watcher. The film generated curiosity due to it being a biopic on the life of south Indian film actress Vijayalaxmi also known as Silk Smitha. Though the film’s producers denied this, fans who turned up to watch the movie on its first day, hoped to catch a glimpse of Smitha’s life in it. “It is difficult to recapture something which was twenty years back, or to recreate the costumes, the sets, it’s really a challenge for the director. What counts in such films is the storyline and the story was good. And if it is the same story then I would like to watch the film,” said Suresh, a moviegoer from Chennai. The ensemble star cast which worked in the film found positive reviews among the audiences as well. “It was very nice. Vidya Balan has done very good acting. Excellent film. I will see it again. She looked good with Emraan Hashmi. He has also acted very well,” said Kalyani, a movie watcher from Mumbai. The story of the film is based on the life of Vijayalaxmi, who entertained the people with her performances in various movies. The controversial actress, who was considered a sex symbol, died in mysterious circumstances. Reports claimed that she had committed suicide. The music of the film is composed by Vishal-Shekhar with lyrics written by Rajat Arora. Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, the film released at movie theatres all over India on the birth anniversary of Smitha, December 02, 2011. ANI
