Will Smith to star in and produce `Wild Bunch` remake

Will Smith is expected to take a double duty in the reboot of Sam Peckinpah`s 1969 film for Warner Bros.

Los Angeles: Will Smith is expected to take a double duty in the reboot of Sam Peckinpah`s 1969 film for Warner Bros.
After starring in 1999`s ‘Wild Wild West’, Will is offered to be a leading man as well as a producer in untitled `The Wild Bunch` remake, a new take of Sam Peckinpah`s classic film in 1969 from Warner Bros, reported Aceshowbiz.
If Smith eventually reaches an agreement, the actor will produce under Overbrook Entertainment banner alongside his partner in producing "The Karate Kid", Jerry Weintraub. The studio is currently seeking a new writer to replace Brian Helgeland, who had been penning half of the script with the film`s then-helmer Tony Scott before Scott died last year. Starring William Holden and Robert Ryan, the original film centered on a group of ageing outlaws that planned one last score on the Texas-Mexico border as the traditional American West changed around them in 1913. The new take is said to follow a disgraced DEA agent who assembles a team to go after a Mexican drug lord and his fortune. PTI
