Melbourne: The Indian Film Festival, which kick started on Tuesday in Melbourne will feature the much awaited Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’, next week.
The movie will then be heading for screenings in Dubai and Toronto and a red-carpet premiere in England, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Teri Meri Kahaani is a triple-treat tale of love and romance, which weaves three stories spanning over different eras into one single flick. The protagonists Chopra and Kapoor, were among the guests in town for the festival’s opening night. The movie begins in a small village outside Lahore in 1910 and ends in England in 2013. In between the story also takes a trip to the heart of the groovy film industry of Bombay in 1960. Earlier Chopra and Kapoor have starred together in Kaminey, which was released in 2009. “Priyanka only had eight scenes but you could see the chemistry between her and Shahid,” Teri Meri Kahaani’s producer, Vicky Bahri said. The audiences can watch the pair falling in love not once but three times over, playing three different characters in three different eras. Writer and director of the flick, Kunal Kohli, who is also the guest in festival, claimed that there is a gruelling aspect to this kind of project. “It is the work of three films in one,” he said. The team recreated Bombay in the studio, built a set for the 1910 village and shot the England section at Nottingham University and Stratford-upon-Avon. Kohli revealed that given the latter, there are, of course Shakespearean references and they are crucial to the story. The 29-year-old former miss world revealed that in Teri Meri Kahaani, she identified most with her 2012 role. But she loved the ‘pizzazz’ and larger-than-life stars of the 1960s period, where she plays a leading actress, while Kapoor is an aspiring musician. The 31-year-old actress on other hand has a soft spot for his 1910 character, a young Muslim called ‘Javed’ who uses poetry to help him chat up girls. Kapoor revealed that in some ways Javed seems like a contemporary character, says. “He is probably the brattiest of them all, and it was the part I enjoyed the most,” he added. ANI
