Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals, IPL 2020 Qualifier 1: As it happened

Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan smashed a fifty each before Jasprit Bumrah bagged a four-wicket haul to help Mumbai Indians clinch a comfortable win. 

  • Mumbai Indians clinched nine wins from 13 league stage matches to finish at the top of the points table.
  • Delhi Capitals rebounded strongly following their four consecutive defeats to beat RCB by 6 wickets in their final league stage fixture and make a second-place finish in the standings.
  • The two teams have lock horns in a total of 26 IPL matches, with MI leading the rivalry by 14-12 against Delhi.

Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan hammered a half-century each before Jasprit Bumrah shone with the ball to help defending champions Mumbai Indians clinch a comfortable 57-run victory over Delhi Capitals and storm into the final of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday.

Asked to bat first, Suryakumar Yadav (51) not only notched up a fifty but also shared a crucial 62-run stand for the second wicket with Quinton de Kock before the latter was caught at long-off of an Ashwin delivery in the eighth over.

Subsequently, Ishan Kishan brought up an unbeaten knock of 55 runs off 30 balls besides sharing a 60-run stand with Hardik Pandya (37 not out) to help Mumbai Indians post a mammoth total of 200 for five.

In reply, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai with brilliant figures of four for 14. Trent Boult bagged two wickets in his two overs before he was forced to walk off the field with groin strain, while Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard claimed a wicket each as Delhi Capitals were restricted to the score of 143 for eight in their stipulated 20 overs.

Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel were the notable scorers for Delhi Capitals with 65 and 42 runs, respectively.
