Miami: Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez is convinced that the violence seen in Hollywood movies is not the only cause of the mass shootings that periodically shock the nation.
"That subject in general is very complex. It`s a tragedy. Blaming it all on one thing is very hard. There are many factors that have to be looked at in the whole world to fix such an enormous problem," she said in an interview with EFE in Miami.
After the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, there were requests from many quarters asking the Hollywood film industry to tone down movie violence.
The violence in some films, those people say, could be directly influencing the violent behavior of young people in the US, where access to guns is comparatively easy.
There is a considerable amount of violence in `Parker`, in which the 43-year-old Lopez portrays Leslie, a recently divorced woman who "is going through the worst time of her life".
Her character is forced to go live with her mother in Florida, until she meets Parker (Jason Statham) there, a man involved in shady business deals for whom she feels "a great attraction."
"Leslie finds a chance to change her life and goes off with him," Lopez said.
The singer said she has a lot in common with Leslie, such as her own recent divorce from fellow performer Marc Anthony.
