Bollywood rules the 56th National Awards

Bollywood overshadowed the 56th National Film Awards, winning as many as thirteen awards with films like ‘Rock On!!’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Firaaq’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar.’ The 56th National Film Awards were awarded by President Pratibha Patil in a glittering ceremony here.

New Delhi: Bollywood overshadowed the 56th National Film Awards, winning as many as thirteen awards with films like ‘Rock On!!’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Firaaq’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar.’ The 56th National Film Awards were awarded by President Pratibha Patil in a glittering ceremony here.
Priyanka Chopra has been honoured with the Best Actress Award for her role in multi award winning film ‘Fashion’. Following her closely is her ‘Fashion’ co-star Kangna Ranuat, who walked away with the Best Supporting Actress Award. As for the Best Actor Award, it has been awarded to Upendra Limaye for his stunning act in Marathi film ‘Jogwa’. As for the Best Hindi Film, the award was bagged by Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Rock On’, while the Best Film Award went to Rahul Bose-starrer Bengali film `Antaheen`. The Best Director award went to Tamil filmmaker Bala for his film `Naan Kadavul`. Abhay Deol starrer ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’ seized the Popular Film Award and Neeraj Pandey’s ‘A Wednesday’ was named as the Best Debut Film of 2008. Stunning actor Arjun Rampal won the Best Supporting Actor award for his acclaimed role in ‘Rock On’.
