Mumbai: Filmmaker Boney Kapoor recently joined Sahara Motion Pictures. He had an ambition to buy the company a good bargain from Karan Johar but the deal has apparently fallen flat. The filmmaker had offered KJo a whopping Rs. 150 crore, seeking purchase of three films from Dharma Productions – ‘Agneepath’, ‘Short Term Shaadi’ and Ayaan Mukerji`s next starring Ranbir Kapoor. But Karan blatantly said ‘No’. Said a source to a daily, “Karan, to say the least, was flabbergasted. He was right in not reciprocating. The offer was too miserly.” “The offer was rather low considering just one of the three films would cost nearly 100 crore. Explaining why the offer was far too less compared to Karan`s expectations, the source says, "On a conservative basis too, the making of ‘Agneepath’ would be no less than Rs 70-80 crore. So how can Karan sell out three movies including ‘Agneepath’ at just Rs 150 crore?" But this revealed that Karan is open to work with distributors other than Yash Raj Films and UTV. “Why not? Earlier, he worked with only Yash Raj Films. But now, he is very close to UTV as well. If he gets a good offer in the market for his products, why won`t he grab it? There are no borders,” added the source. On being contacted, Karan and Boney remained unavailable for comments.
