Aamir to perform on stage after 10 long years of lull!

Mumbai: The occasion must be very special, for it has convinced none other than Aamir Khan to perform in it! Cine Artistes Association has planned a concert with the motive of improving the standard and generating funds for the junior artistes of Bollywood. And if sources are to be believed, superstar Aamir Khan will be seen on the stage performing for the audience after 10 long years. On January 15, the Bollywood superstar, currently riding a wave of success with ‘3 Idiots’, will record his part for a concert that is being put up by the Cine & Television Artistes Association. Aamir reportedly agreed to do this concert because it is for a cause. According to Johny Lever, the President of the Cine Artistes Association, “Our association has completed 50 years. I have personally requested Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan and several other Bollywood biggies to perform for us. We need funds to rehabilitate and provide resources to junior artistes who are finding it hard to make ends meet.” Since 1992, when Mithun Chakraborty personally initiated a huge concert to raise funds for artistes on the fringes of the film industry, very little has been done to keep focus on the cause. A trade analyst says, “This time Kiran Kumar and Johny Lever have taken it upon themselves to personally involve the biggest names in showbiz to contribute to the cause of the under-privileged.” Johny says, “Each and every artiste that we approached has agreed.’’ Apparently Aamir has also sent out personal text messages to all the big names in the business asking them to participate. “SRK has agreed, so has Hrithik. The list is long but I must say that whoever we approached, has agreed to contribute personally. They have realised that the concert, which will later be televised on a satellite channel, is being done for a worthy cause,” added Johny.
