Maharashtra govt has approached Kajol and Ajay Devgan to become the brand ambassadors for its `Save the Girl-child` campaign.

Mumbai: Maharashtra government has approached Bollywood couple Kajol and Ajay Devgan to become the brand ambassadors for its `Save the Girl-child` campaign.

Another celebrity couple, actors Sachin Pilgaonkar and Supriya, have already agreed to be a part of it. "We are awaiting written confirmation from Ajay and Kajol about the participation," health department officials said. Sachin and Supriya are parents of a single girl-child, while Ajay and Kajol`s eldest child is a girl. Sources said that government was looking for celebrity couples who have a connect in both urban as well as rural areas. Sachin-Supriya enjoy fame across the state owing to their successful career in Marathi films, while Kajol, a Bollywood actor, too has Maharashtrian roots; as her mother, actress Tanuja is from the state. Government recently launched a crack-down on pre-natal sex-test centres across the state. PTI
