New Delhi: For actress Mindy Kaling agreeing to voice 'Disgust' in upcoming animated film "Inside Out" was an easy decision to make as the character has similarities with her talkative and impatient role of Kelly Kapoor in US TV series "The Office".

The 25-year-old Indian-origin actress, best know for her role in romantic comedy TV series "The Mindy Project", is part of the voice-cast of Disney-Pixar's 3D film alongside Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Bill Hader and Phyllis Smith.

The story is set in the mind of a young girl, Riley Anderson, where five personified emotions joy, anger, disgust, fear, and sadness try to lead her through life as she moves with her family to a new city.

"A movie like this is so good because it is coming from such a personal place, and you can tell. I burst into tears when they talked to me about the struggles that she was going through, and how anger, fear, and disgust were ruling her emotions for part of the movie," Mindy told PTI in an email interview.

"The thing about the character is that Disgust is so judgemental, and she is a lot like my character Kelly from 'The Office', who is just incredibly impatient and judgemental about so many things and rarely has any solutions," she said.

Mindy said she was invited to the Pixar headquarters at Emeryville, California, for the narration of the Pete Docter-directed film and was impressed by its "daring" subject
"Inside Out" will hit theatres in India this Friday.

This is not the first time Mindy has starred in an animated film. She has voiced characters in "Despicable Me" and "Wreck-It Ralph" and when asked if there was any particular reason behind her love for animated roles, the actress joked, "I think it helps that I have the voice of a twelve year old girl!"

The actress, primarily known for her work on TV as an actress, writer and director, has also done few Hollywood films but her roles have been restricted to just brief appearances.

Mindy said her commitment to "The Mindy Project", which is currently in its fourth season, as a creator and actress, takes too much of her time. But she would love to direct a film in near future.

"I love movies and really want to direct one that I write. Because I am the show-runner of my show, it's hard to find a lot of time to do other things, especially with twenty-six episodes in season four. But I am working on a film script now," she said.

Mindy also expressed her desire to collaborate with Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji. "I would absolutely love to (work with Indian actors). I am so impressed by Rani Mukerji. I would love to act with her or write something for her," the actress said.
