Congress leaders suffering from Insomnia: Rajnath Singh in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh accused the Congress leaders of suffering from insomnia.

Addressing a public meeting in Gujarat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said on Sunday that Congress party has accepted its defeat after the first phase of voting in the Gujarat elections, and may be because of this reason, the opposition party leaders are unable to sleep.

Taking a dig at the Congress leaders over claims of no development during the BJP rule, Singh said, "In Insomnia, people experience hallucinations and vision problems and probably that is why they are unable to see 'Vikas' (development) in the state.

Over 68 percent turnout was recorded on Saturday in the first phase of polling for 89 Assembly seats in Gujarat where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress's soon-to-be chief Rahul Gandhi are locked in a bitter, high-stakes battle after a 22-year BJP reign.

PM Modi and Gandhi sparred in battleground Gujarat on Sunday where the former claimed leaders of the opposition party held a secret meeting with current and former Pakistani officials a day ahead of Mani Shankar Aiyar's "neech" jibe against him.

Modi claimed there was an attempt by Pakistan to interfere in the Gujarat polls.

The next Congress presidnet came down heavily on the Prime Minister, asserting that his words had ceased to carry weight since he was lying through his teeth on the promises made to Gujarat and the country.

Gandhi promised he would not use even one "galat shabd" (wrong word) against him because he respects the post of the prime minister.
