Srinagar: Two terrorists have been gunned down in an encounter with the security forces in Imam Sahib area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. The area was cordoned off.

Counter-insurgency units of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and special operations group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly conducted the search operation in an orchard area in Parguchi village.

"Hiding militants fired at the security forces triggering a brief gun battle in which both militants were killed," an officer said.

"Exact identity and affiliation of the slain militants are being ascertained," he added.
