Ghaziabad: A 50-year-old godman was on Monday arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl from Dholana village in Hapur and raping her for ten days, police said.
The girl was rescued and handed over to her parents this afternoon.
The accused has been identified as Kuberchand alias Pagal Baba, a resident of Meerut, police said.
Kuberchand had visited Dholana`s village. There, he lured the girl and took her to Himachal Pradesh for ten days.
"During this period, Kuberchand allegedly raped the minor several times. On Monday, some locals spotted the girl with Kuberchand at the Hapur railway station and informed the police, which arrested him," said a police official.
Kuberchand told the police that he planned to take the girl to Uttarakhand.
"Police are interrogating Kuberchand. He used to visit the girl`s village often and was highly respected by villagers," the official said.
