Uber moves Delhi HC against denial of extension of its licence

Uber India Technology Pvt Ltd on Friday moved the Delhi High Court challenging an order of the city government denying extension of its licence to operate radio cabs in the national capital.

New Delhi: Uber India Technology Pvt Ltd on Friday moved the Delhi High Court challenging an order of the city government denying extension of its licence to operate radio cabs in the national capital.

The matter was mentioned before a vacation bench of justices S Muralidhar and I S Mehta who refused to hear it today and asked Uber to mention the matter before another bench on June 15.

Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for Uber, said its case is similar to that of two other companies, Apra Cabs India Pvt Ltd and Serendipity Infolabs Pvt Ltd (Taxi for Sure), whose applications for licence was rejected by Delhi government on June 3.

He said Uber's application was also rejected by the order of June 3.

In the case of Apra Cabs and Serendipity Infolabs, the court had yesterday set aside the rejection order and had also held as invalid the coercive actions, including issuance of challans, against them.

The matter is likely to be listed before another bench of the high court next week.
