17 undergoing treatment for swine flu in Coimbatore

A total of 17 persons are undergoing treatment for swine flu at the Government Hospital here, where three patients succumbed to it in the last five days.

Coimbatore: A total of 17 persons are undergoing treatment for swine flu at the Government Hospital here, where three patients succumbed to it in the last five days.

Seven persons were admitted to the hospital with symptoms of H1N1 influenza yesterday alone, hospital officials said.

The patients include those from Karur, Udhgamandalam and Palakkad in Kerala.

The district administration and hospital authorities are taking measures to create awareness about the disease and the need to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, they said.

Enough medicine and tablets were available in the hospital and there was no need to panic, they said.

Five persons, including four women, have succumbed to swine flu during this year, three in this month alone, officials said.
