Attention-seeking behind Pakistan's ceasefire violation: Manohar Parrikar

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday said Pakistan's intention behind firing may be to "get attention" as the neighbouring country continues to violate ceasefire at the border.

New Delhi: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday said Pakistan's intention behind firing may be to "get attention" as the neighbouring country continues to violate ceasefire at the border.

"Sometimes intent of all firing is to get attention," Parrikar said.

The minister also said that most ceasefire violations off late have been on the International Border (IB), which is guarded by the Border Security Force (BSF).

"Mostly the ceasefire violations are on IB, I don't have direct details of that," the minister said, interacting with journalists on the sidelines of the Naval Commanders' Conference here.

The minister added that there was a period when ceasefire violations went up along the Line of Control (LoC), but at present there was no rise in ceasefire violations along the LoC.
