BJP hails Myanmar operation, says Pak should draw lessons

BJP on Wednesday hailed Army's pre-dawn surgical strike inside Myanmar killing 38 Naga insurgents and said it reflects the Narendra Modi government's policy of 'zero tolerance' towards terrorism, from which all terror groups as well as Pakistan should draw lessons.

New Delhi: BJP on Wednesday hailed Army's pre-dawn surgical strike inside Myanmar killing 38 Naga insurgents and said it reflects the Narendra Modi government's policy of 'zero tolerance' towards terrorism, from which all terror groups as well as Pakistan should draw lessons.

The VHP also lauded the government and the Army's successful operation and hoped the next will be in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

BJP national spokesperson M J Akbar said the Myanmar operation is more evidence of the emerging Modi doctrine.

On one side of the coin is "zero tolerance" for terrorism including an unprecedented will for punitive retribution, and on the other "we cede the ground" for mutually beneficial friendship with "nations which cooperate with us on terrorism", as was was evident in Bangladesh, Akbar said.

"In one year, the Prime Minister's innovative foreign policy has rattled Pakistan in many ways. But a prime achievement has been a reversal of Pakistan's efforts.

"Previously Pakistan was able to mobilise neighbours against India. Today with the new band of friends Pakistan has been isolated. In simpler terms, Pakistan should draw the relevant lessons," Akbar said.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said, "The military's action against insurgents with assistance from the Myanmarese government speaks volumes about India's resolve to fight terror. This is a lesson and a message to all the terror groups that India will not hesitate in going beyond its geographical borders to eliminate terrorists."

Javadekar, however, refused to comment on if India will carry out a similar strike on Pakistan-based groups plotting terror against India.

VHP's international working president Pravin Togadia said on Twitter, "Bravo to (the) Ministry of External Affairs, (the) Ministry of Defence and Bharat's brave Army! Great success in Myanmar! Hope the next will be PoK and Pakistan! Best Wishes!"

In another tweet, Togadia said, "Of course! Ab Pak dar gaya! Barish Dilli pahunchne ke pahle Dawood kko Dilli layenge hi! (Pakistan has become panicky. Before the monsoon reach Delhi, Dawood (Ibrahim) would be brought to Delhi)."
