To commemorate the International Yoga Day, United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron has send in his greetings, stating that his country was one of 177 countries to vote in favour of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi's proposal.

London: To commemorate the International Yoga Day, United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron has send in his greetings, stating that his country was one of 177 countries to vote in favour of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi's proposal.

In a message shared by Ministry of External Affairs, Cameron has said, “The UK is pleased to support International Yoga Day. We were one of 177 countries to vote in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposal, and we are pleased to see the enthusiasm with which it is being embraced, both in the UK and around the world.”

In September last year, during his speech at the UN General Assembly, PM Modi had proposed the idea to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day. After the resolution for the Yoga Day was co-sponsored by 177 of the 193 member nations in a short period of 75 days, the UN approved the proposal.

Yoga day events are also being held in 192 countries, including in the Arab world. Indian missions abroad are all geared up the mark the occasion with some public events.
