Environment Minister seeks NoC for Chaturvedi as OSD to Kejriwal

Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has written to the Health Ministry seeking No Objection Certificate for Indian Forest Service officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi, whose services as Officer on Special Duty has been sought by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

New Delhi: Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has written to the Health Ministry seeking No Objection Certificate for Indian Forest Service officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi, whose services as Officer on Special Duty has been sought by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) had in April asked the Ministry of Environment to submit cadre clearance and procure NOC from the Union Health Ministry.

Moving a step closer to deputing Chaturvedi, a former Chief Vigilance Officer at AIIMS, to Kejriwal's office, the Environment Ministry, the cadre controlling ministry of the officer, wrote to the Health Ministry On June 2 seeking the NOC.

Chaturvedi is at present posted as Deputy Secretary at AIIMS.

"The Department of Health and Family Welfare is requested to convey their no objection to the proposal of deputation of Sanjiv Chaturvedi, IFS, as officer on special duty to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal," said the office memorandum.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had on February 16 written to Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar for urgently releasing Chaturvedi from his duties to enable him to work as his OSD.

The proposal was held back by the Ministry for two months after which it sought the opinion of DoPT on the issue.

The DoPT had on April 29 asked the Environment Ministry to seek the NOC from the Health Ministry so that the proposal could be processed further.

After more than one month the Ministry has sought NOC of the Health minsitry. This is considered to be the last stage after which the file will be sent for approval of Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Chaturvedi was removed from his post as CVO of AIIMS in August last year by the Health Ministry.
