On retirement day, chauffeur gets VIP ride from his IAS boss

A collector in Maharashtra's Akola district drove his chauffeur to office as his parting gift on the last day of work for his years of service.

Mumbai: To express gratitude for the services of his chauffeur, this collector from Maharashtra decided to drive his aide to work on the day of his retirement.

In his 35 years of service, Digamber Thak served 18 district collectors. Akola collector G Sreekanth is his last boss who made sure he gets a VIP treatment on the last day of his work.

And on his farewell day, the 58-year-old driver, who was in his best and wore his most prized crispy white uniform, gets a ride in the same car in which he drove around his boss. It was decorated with colourful flowers. At a first glance, one would think it's been decorated for a wedding.

"For close to 35 years, he's helped the state with his service, ensuring that collectors get to their workplace safely, day after day. I wanted to make this a day to remember for him and also to say thank you for what he's done," NDTV quoted Akola Collector Sreekanth as saying.
