Vishnu Prakash appointed High Commissioner to Canada

New Delhi: Senior diplomat Vishnu Prakash was on Thursday appointed India's next High Commissioner to Canada.

A 1981-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, Prakash is currently posted as India's Ambassador to South Korea.

The government has also appointed 1979-batch IFS officer Ajit Kumar as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations Offices in Geneva.

He is now posted as Consul General, Consulate General of India in Atlanta, US.

Both the diplomats are expected to take up their new assignment soon, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
