Won't tolerate anti-India slogans: Rajnath Singh on Masarat Alam

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday categorically stated that the Centre will not tolerate anyone raising slogans like 'Pakistan zindabad' on the Indian soil.

New Delhi: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday categorically stated that the Centre will not tolerate anyone raising slogans like 'Pakistan zindabad' on the Indian soil.

Singh was reacting on a rally organised in Srinagar yesterday by the Hurriyat Conference at which recently released separatist Masarat Alam waved the Pakistani flag and raised anti-India slogans. Hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was also present at the rally.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has already registered a case against the duo in connection with the incident.

Singh said he has spoken to state Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and told him that the country won’t accept pro-Pakistani slogans on Indian soil.

"There can be no compromise on national security. Politics cannot impinge on national security," the minister is reported to have told Sayeed.

Singh said he has also asked the CM to take strict action against Masarat Alam.

Sayeed on his part today said that the waving of Pakistani flags and raising of anti-India slogans were "not acceptable" and "will not be tolerated'.

The state government, in which BJP is an alliance partner, came in for a flak over its decision to allow Geelani to hold a rally after five years in Srinagar city.

During the rally, Masarat Alam, released from jail last month, praised founder of Lashker-e-Toiba terror outfit Hafiz Mohammed Sayeed and asked people to join hands with his outfit.
