Jammu: Curfew in Rajouri town remained in force for the second successive day on Wednesday without any relaxation even as authorities said no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the town.

"The curfew continued without any relaxation in Rajouri today (Wednesday). No untoward incident has been reported from anywhere so far," a senior police officer said.

Authorities clamped indefinite curfew in Rajouri in Jammu region on Tuesday afternoon, fearing breach of peace.

Rajouri District Magistrate Deepti Uppal issued the prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC on Tuesday afternoon.

The army, called in to assist the civil administration, carried out a flag march to instil confidence among the people.

Trouble erupted in the town on Eid on July 18 when activists of a right wing outfit burnt a flag of international terror group, the Islamist State.

Muslims said holy verses were written on the flag, and burning it was sacrilege.

Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh has said there was nothing wrong in burning the flag of a terrorist group, but added that those who burnt it did not know about the holy verses written on it.
