Shocking! Man kills wife for refusing to cook mutton

Jabalpur: A man in an inebriated state in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district sets his wife ablaze after she turned down his request to cook mutton.

The 25-year-old victim was rushed to a hospital with severe burn wounds on Thursday night but she succumbed to her injuries after a few hours.

The couple hails from Jabalpur's Chandni Chawk area. Her husband Liyakat Khan initially tried to cover up the incident saying that it was an accident, police said, a TOI report said quoting police.

However, after Shabnam narrated the ordeal to doctors, he escaped from the hospital, the report said.

The incident took place around 10.30 pm on Thursday. According to the report, Liyakat had asked his wife to cook mutton but when she refused, citing fatigue, he got angry and doused her with kerosene and set her on fire.

The couple has a 7-year-old daughter.
