BJP to move HC if Adarsh report is not tabled

Maharashtra BJP on Thursday said it would move the Bombay High Court and seek a direction to the state government to table the Adarsh scam inquiry commission`s report before the legislature.

Mumbai: Maharashtra BJP on Thursday said it would move the Bombay High Court and seek a direction to the state government to table the Adarsh scam inquiry commission`s report before the legislature.

State BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis said that as per the Commission of Inquiries Act, such a report has to be tabled before the legislature within six months of its submission to the government.

Fadnavis and Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Vinod Tawde said in a statement that six months for the submission of the report would be over after two days, and BJP would move the HC against the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and the Chief Secretary after that.
Chavan was reluctant to table the report -- which deals with allegations that the high-rise Adarsh Society came up in south Mumbai illegally because of connivance of bureaucrats and politicians -- as it indicts former Chief Ministers, the BJP claimed.
