Lok Sabha to discuss Maoist problem today

The Lok Sabha will on Tuesday take up a short duration discussion on the spurt in Maoist activities in the country.

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha will on Tuesday take up a short duration discussion on the spurt in Maoist activities in the country while the Rajya Sabha will deliberate on the situation arising out of the increase in prices of goods and services in the country.

The Rajya Sabha will also take up a calling attention motion of the Union Home Minister on the issue of inadequate facilities and safety measures along the Amarnath Yatra route resulting in death of pilgrims.

The Upper House is also likely to take up the Whistle Blowers Protection Bill, 2011, with the government reaching an understanding with opposition BJP for excluding issues relating to national security matters from the ambit of the key anti-graft legislation.

Sources said the government may move an official amendment to the legislation before bring it up in the Upper House. In the Lok Sabha, the Chemical Weapons Convention (Amendment) Bill, 2012, is also likely to come up today.

A short duration discussion on internal security is also likely in the Lok Sabha in the next few days during which members could raise the issue of the violence in Mumbai last week. A special discussion on the issue of black money is also expected soon where members could raise the issue of the state of the economy and price rise.
