SC grants regular bail to Laloo and Mishra in fodder scam

New Delhi, July 14: In a major relief to two former chief ministers of Bihar - Laloo Prasad Yadav and Jagannath Mishra, the Supreme Court today granted regular bail to them along with nearly five hundred other persons accused in the various fodder scam cases that rocked the state in late 1990s.

New Delhi, July 14: In a major relief to two former chief ministers of Bihar - Laloo Prasad Yadav and Jagannath Mishra, the Supreme Court today granted regular bail to them along with nearly five hundred other persons accused in the various fodder scam cases that rocked the state in late 1990s.
A bench comprising Justice S N Variava, Justice P V Reddi and Justice Ashok Bhan granted them regular bail on the same conditions in which they were enlarged on interim bail.
Earlier, the court was extending the interim bail of all the accused for six months from time to time. Most of the cases in the fodder scam have been transferred to Ranchi in
Jharkhand.

It was alleged that around Rs 900 crores were misappropriated by officials and politicians from the state treasury which was meant for procuring fodder for cattle.
