Sharma is likely to face disciplinary action by the state
government for failing to reply to the chargesheet served on
him, home ministry sources said here today.
The deadline for replying to the chargesheet expired
today but meanwhile Sharma has demanded access to certain
papers from the home ministry to enable him to reply to the
charges framed against him, the sources said.
Acting on the SIT report submitted to Chief Minister
Sushilkumar Shinde on a Mumbai High Court directive, the state
government had chargesheeted Sharma on November 25 for various
reasons in the multi-crore stamp paper case and asked to reply
it by December 04.
The state home ministry however has refused to give the
papers demanded by Sharma and warned that he would have to
face disciplinary action for failing to reply to the charges.
The government's refusal to his demand for papers and
action taken against him would be communicated to Sharma soon,
the sources said.
The chargesheet blamed Sharma for dereliction of duty and
listed acts of his commission and omission as a result of
which the probe into the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam
suffered drawbacks.
