Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Saturday expressed surprise over Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's remark that it was unrelenting in its attitude on the Ayodhya issue saying that it had announced the date in the Kumbh Mela and was only sticking to it.
“I am surprised that when a year ago we had announced the date in Kumbh Mela and we are sticking to it, then how are we stubborn,” VHP acharya Giriraj Kishore said from Kolkata.
He accused the Babri Masjid Committee of being stubborn from the beginning as they were not ready for talks. On Vajpayee's observation that “The only course left to resolve the imbroglio now is to await the court verdict,” he said, “We (VHP) are not any party in the court. My land does not come under the court's jurisdiction.”
Referring to the laws of the land, he said, that the law of the land will be there and asked but, is it only for us and not for anybody else.
