Nahan, May 02: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today
called upon people to vote for NDA to ensure political
stability and progress and claimed that leaderless and
confused Congress would not (not) reach three figure mark in
Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing election meetings at Nahan, Bilaspur and
Nurpur in Himachal Pradesh, he said that the Vajpayee
government ensured political stability and development and the
country which had seen six Prime Ministers in ten years from
1988 to 1999 saw only one Prime Minister during past six
years.

There were about half-a-dozen prime ministerial
candidates among the non-NDA parties and the Congress had also
started chanting the name of Sonia Gandhi from yesterday, he
said, adding that the party was totally confused and its allies
were divided on this issue.

Advani said that India was really shining in all fields
under Prime Minister A B Vajpayee's leadership and a survey
conducted by an American agency had equated India with China,
Russia and Brazil, vying to become world economic powers.

Advani blamed the successive Congress governments for slow
pace of development during past 45 years and said that
countries which attained independence along with India had
made rapid progress while people here were still struggling to
get the basic amenities.

He said that during the Congress rule eleven km of
highways were constructed during one-year while the NDA
government constructed eleven km of roads every day.

Advani said the NDA was seeking a fresh mandate to make
India a developed country and to fulfill the incomplete tasks
started by it.

He said that “feel good” was a reality and there was a
sense of confidence among the people that the country was
doing better and its image had improved nationally and
internationally.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the NDA government
was focussing on basic facilities like food, water, housing,
education, roads and medical care and a target had been set to
link all six lakh villages with roads within next four years.

He said that the goal to convert “Swaraj into Suraj”,
(self-rule to good governance) was yet to be achieved and the
NDA government was determined to do it.
