An explosion ripped through an election rally in Bangladesh's southwestern Bagerhat district police said.
Police said that they were unable to give a figure for casualties, but senior officers have rushed to the scene.
The blast occurred in the district's remote Mollahat area at a rally of the candidate of the Awami League headed by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed, police said.
The candidate, Sheikh Helal, was not believed to have been injured.
More than 100 people have been killed and thousands injured in Bangladesh since July when a caretaker government took over from Sheikh Hasina Wajed to organise the election.
