Hyderabad: The father of a slain "terror operative" Viquar Ahmed, alias Ali Khan, Wednesday filed a petition before the Hyderabad High Court seeking an investigation by CBI into an alleged fake encounter on April 7 in which his son and four others were shot dead.
Mohammed Ahmed, in his petition, also sought registration of an FIR against the police personnel responsible for the killing of his son and four others and subsequently transferring the investigation to CBI.
He had on April 11 lodged a complaint with Alair Police Station, accusing the escort party and higher police officials of killing his son and four others in a "fake encounter" and sought initiation of action.
Police, however, had made a General Diary (GD) Entry following the complaint.
Telangana government had on April 13 formed a Special Investigation Team to probe into the April 7 encounter. However, Mohammed Ahmed has been insisting on a CBI probe.
Ahmed had earlier termed the killing of Viquar and his four associates as a "pre-planned police murder".
The five undertrials – Viquar, Syed Amjad Ali, Mohammed Zakir, all residents of Hyderabad, Mohammed Haneef alias Dr Haneef, a native of Ahmedabad, and Izhar Khan, a native of Uttar Pradesh – were shot dead by police on April 7 when they allegedly tried to escape from a police van near Tangutur under Alair Police Station limits in Nalgonda district of Telangana while being taken to a court in Hyderabad.
According to police, Viquar Ahmed asked to stop the van to answer nature's call. After returning to the van, he snatched the rifle of one of the police constables and opened fire. The other four also tried to snatch the weapons of the accompanying policemen and were killed when the police fired in "self defence".
The five had allegedly formed a terrorist organisation called Tahreek Galba-e-Islam (TGI).
Police had earlier said they were involved in four incidents of firing on police (killing three policemen and injuring four others) in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
On April 8, a case of attempt to murder and other relevant offences under IPC and Arms Act was registered against the five alleged terror operatives.
